Lone Star of Texas

Painted directly onto a life-sized Gibson Guitar, this piece represents the people of Austin and their pride in being Austinites. I have lived in varied areas around the country and am still new to the Austin area. Upon moving here, I was struck by the locals and how proud they all are to be from and living in this area. In designing this piece, I set forth to encapsulate that feeling of pride. The flag motif, though modified, represents the patriotism shared by the residents here and of Texas as a whole. Austin, geographically located in the middle of the state, is represented by the star, which is also a common map symbol for the state capital. The drips at the bottom of the guitar express Austin's creativity and it's burgeoning artist community.
